SVRI Forum 2024: Poster Presentation Guidelines

Due to popular demand, we are excited to bring back poster presentations at this year’s SVRI Forum. Posters provide an excellent platform for presenting research and programmes, allowing for more interactive discussions between presenters and conference participants.

Purpose of poster presentation sessions

The SVRI poster presentation sessions are designed to:

  • Showcase innovative research and programs.
  • Facilitate in-depth discussions and networking.
  • Promote greater interaction between presenters and participants.

Specifications for poster presentations

  • Presenters are responsible for printing their own posters.
  • Poster size: Posters should be in portrait orientation, with dimensions of 841 x 1189 millimeters.

  • Poster programme: A poster programme with assigned numbers will be provided. Please note that you will have your poster up for one full day. We will share the programme and set up/take down times closer to the conference dates.
  • Poster board: Posters will be displayed on one side of a poster board which we will be providing, numbered according to the poster programme.
  • Printing recommendations: It is recommended to hand-carry your poster to the conference. Common printing options include:
    • Screen printing
    • Water-based printing
    • Plastisol printing
    • Digital printing
    • Sublimation printing
    • Heat transfer printing
    • Roller printing
  • Printing assistance: If you require assistance with printing your poster in Cape Town and prefer not to travel with it, you may contact Pixel Media (payment for printing can be made directly to Pixel Media):

Poster presentation guidelines

  • Poster venue: Posters will be on display on the ground floor area at CTICC II in front of Hall 5/6/7 .
  • Poster set up: We will have staff available each day to assist with putting up and taking down your poster. A new set of poster presentations is scheduled each day from Tuesday to Thursday.
    • Monday drop-off: If you are at the CTICC on Monday, please drop off your poster at the Speakers Prep booth.
    • Daily drop-off: New posters for the day must be dropped off at the Speakers Prep booth no later than 8:00 AM on the day of your display. This ensures that your poster will be ready by the time the plenary session starts. Forum staff will place all posters up for each day. We will provide double sided tape for putting up your poster.
  • Poster removal: Forum staff will take down the posters starting at 7:30 PM each evening and your poster can be collected from the presentation booth.
  • Poster identification: Kindly attach the date of display to your poster. See the schedule HERE.
  • Presenter attendance: The designated poster presenter (author or coauthor) must please be present from 1pm – 2pm on the date of display. There will not be formal presentations but rather informal discussions with delegates taking a walk through the poster gallery.
  • Tips for poster preparation:
    • Goal: Aim for 20% text, 40% graphics, and 40% space.
    • Content flow: Ensure ideas flow logically from one section to the next.
    • Data visualization: Use charts and graphs to illustrate data; avoid large tables of raw data.
    • Image quality: Use high-resolution photographs; web images often will not work.
    • Text formatting: Do not use all capital letters.
